ER

At 4 o'clock in the morning, we had to take Maro to the animal ER. At 2:46 a.m. she had vomited, but we thought it was Ando since he was closer to the vomit. She was panting alot like she was hyperventilating. We made her drink water, but she pooped soft-serve that had a little blood in it. After that, every 5-10 minutes she wanted to be let out to poop more diarrhea. It was so frequent she just sat by the door. Hiro sensed her distressed and went over to check up on her several times. Her Daddy wiped her butt, and the baby wipe was just covered in blood. Luckily, we found a local ER open, but it said on their website that their consult visit alone was $95. yikes! As we headed out the door, Hiro was going crazy wimpering and barking bc we were taking her away.

She had an x-ray ($160) which showed another bout of diarrhea soon to come, and some tiny foreign material that the dr thought could be a piece of toy. The only toy she's been playing with is the chew bone which didn't appear to be eaten. Anyway, she received diarrhea meds, an injection for her vomiting/diarrhea, and an IV. Once the IV was done, she comes walking back into the exam room, and I couldn't help but laugh. She had a hump like Quasimodo! Total visit cost: $371. The hospital suggested leaving her there overnight for observation which totaled $600-$900, depending on the severity. That's steep...but the facility was really nice and high-tech.

We went to McDonald's for breakfast around 5:40 a.m. Maro seemed to be feeling better bc she was sitting up to smell the food as we waited in the drive-thru. Of course, food always makes her feel better. She slept until noon, and was back to her old self by mid-afternoon.

I didn't take a picture of her with her hunchback bc she was tired when we got back to the house. However, I will upload an artist rendition soon.

On Top of Spaghetti....

*Updated 11/5/09* I added more pictures and corrected some stuff. I made meatball spaghetti for the puppies last night because Hiro was getting tired of the regular food. It's a recipe made specifically for dogs so you don't have to worry about making them sick. The puppies love it because it's like eating people food. It's easy to make and it helps get rid of leftover meat and vegetables that's sitting in the fridge. What do you think of it, Ando? Look at that tongue! You spilled some, Hiro. Maro even looks grumpy when she eats. The Verdict: What do you think? They licked the bowl clean! Meatball Spaghetti Ingredients 9 oz - 1 lb ground meat (I used pork) 1 egg 1 small onion 1 zucchini or carrot 1/2 bunch oregano or few dashes of dry oregano vegetable oil for frying 5 oz cooked spaghetti, cut into small pieces (about inch in length) 1 small can (6 oz) tomato sauce Preparation Use the food processor to chop the onion, zucchini/carrot, and meat separately. Mix the on...
