Hard-knocked Life

Ando's had a little bump on his front wrist for a couple days. He won't let us near it, so it's hard to determine if it's an insect bite or whatnot. Dustin had the day off and took him to our vet.

The growth he has is a benign tumor. It's supposed to get bigger, but will eventually go away on its own.

The vet pretty much examined him for a full check-up. She said he had so much stuff happen to him before he was 8 weeks old. His constant congestion isn't kennel cough or allergies. It's a type of pneumonia that occurred when he swallowed food down the wrong pipe and it ended up in his lungs. It's not curable, only treatable. There is little scarring in his lungs.

His left bad eye is completely blind. There's no fluid in it, and when she peered into it, she said it was completely pitch black. However, the eye muscle is strong and good. Apparently, the eye was injured when he was a pup....someone poked it and pierced it all the way through.

Also, before he turned 8 weeks, someone injured him so bad that his sternum (chest) has broken but managed to heal. His chest is sunken in and he has an enlarged heart (bc he's so loving) and is on heart medication to help it.

His bad right leg has so much scar tissue around the joints that they cannot move fluidly. His good left leg is starting to take its toll due to the weight distribution. His knee pops out periodically, so we have to be careful and make sure he doesn't exert himself. He'll probably end up having surgery later on. The vet says Ando's happy now, and if we keep taking care of him he'll live for another 15 years or so. YAY! Oh, and he's gained another pound. He's 19 lbs!

We're going to get him puppy stairs this weekend. Here's some pics of the little fella today.

On Top of Spaghetti....

*Updated 11/5/09* I added more pictures and corrected some stuff. I made meatball spaghetti for the puppies last night because Hiro was getting tired of the regular food. It's a recipe made specifically for dogs so you don't have to worry about making them sick. The puppies love it because it's like eating people food. It's easy to make and it helps get rid of leftover meat and vegetables that's sitting in the fridge. What do you think of it, Ando? Look at that tongue! You spilled some, Hiro. Maro even looks grumpy when she eats. The Verdict: What do you think? They licked the bowl clean! Meatball Spaghetti Ingredients 9 oz - 1 lb ground meat (I used pork) 1 egg 1 small onion 1 zucchini or carrot 1/2 bunch oregano or few dashes of dry oregano vegetable oil for frying 5 oz cooked spaghetti, cut into small pieces (about inch in length) 1 small can (6 oz) tomato sauce Preparation Use the food processor to chop the onion, zucchini/carrot, and meat separately. Mix the on...
